Polaroids 1989–1992

Mining Michael's photo archives, AiR's second exhibition features his polaroids from 1988–91. A series of introspective and experimental photographs, Michael often uses double exposures and developer smears to create mystery and depth. Other polaroids in the show push the theoretical aspect of the medium, and explore abstraction by manipulating the polaroid emulsion — effectively making painted photographs.
